Training

At SSAC we are committed to providing our members with high quality training at all levels. Our training for diving grades is given by members who are qualified instructors, this is done on a voluntary basis and includes both theory lectures and practical skill development in the pool and open water. All training courses are accredited by the SAA and also lead to CMAS qualifications which are recognised worldwide.

Further qualifications including instructor grades and skill development are offered through the SAA.

JUNIOR DIVERS

We are often asked at what age we accept young people to learn to dive. As a club we accept diving members from 12 years of age if they have their own equipment. We do not have junior kit for members to borrow for their training so can only accept trainees who are physically ready to use adult kit. All trainees need to be able to swim 200m (8 lengths) comfortably without touching the ends.
